Don't Lose Your Cool: 3 Ways To Stay Cool While You Wait For Your AC To Get Fixed

by Mae Wallace

Summertime is the busiest season for air conditioner repair technicians. If your air conditioner has gone out, it might be a few hours before the technician can get out to your home. If parts need to be ordered, you might be without your air conditioner for a few days. You're going to need to stay cool until you can get your air conditioner repaired. If you have small children, it's especially important to try and keep your home as cool as possible. There are actually quite a few methods for cooling yourself and your home down, even when the air conditioner isn't working. Here are some of those ways.

Get The Most Out Of Your Fans

Ordinary fans don't do much more than move the air around inside your home. You won't get much cool down action on a hot day with an ordinary fan. However, you can amp it up with ice.

Supplies You'll Need

  • 2 fans
  • 2 shallow pans
  • Ice – either cubed ice or dry ice

Directions

  1. Place your fan on a flat surface.
  2. Place a shallow pan in front of the fan.
  3. Fill the pan with ice or place a 6" piece of dry ice in the pan.
  4. Turn the fan on to high and adjust it so that the air flows across the pan.
  5. For optimum results place a second fan on the opposite side of the room.

Cool Down Before Bed

It can be miserable trying to go to sleep on a hot night. If your air conditioner isn't working, you can still cool down before bed. You'll need to purchase a few of the gel ice packs that you use for your ice chest.

Directions

  1. Place your gel ice packs in the freezer to get them cold.
  2. About 30 minutes before bed, place the ice packs between your sheets.
  3. Leave the ice packs in place for about five minutes and then move them to another location on the bed.
  4. Rotate them every five minutes until you're ready for bed.
  5. Place the ice packs back in the freezer.
  6. Your bed will be cool and ready to sleep in.

Enjoy A Cool Beverage

You can take your mind off the heat by enjoying a refreshing fruit smoothie. The beverage will lower your body temperature and help you relax while you wait for the repair technician.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces of vanilla yogurt
  • 1 cup of pineapple or orange juice
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 peach
  • ¾ cup of frozen berries

Directions

  1. Place your fruit in the blender and blend on high until smooth.
  2. Add the juice and the yogurt to the blender and blend on high for about a minute.
  3. Pour into a glass and enjoy.

You don't have to be miserable while you wait for your air conditioner to be repaired. Use these simple methods to keep you and your family cool. Give Your Shower a Luxury Upgrade

I don’t know about you, but I work hard, and at the end of the day, I really want to come home to a relaxing hot shower. That’s hard to do, though, when your shower enclosure is too small, or when your water pressure is terrible. I decided that what I needed to do was give my shower space an upgrade. I had a larger shower enclosure installed, along with some massage jets and a shower seat. I started this blog about shower options to help you learn how to upgrade and improve your own shower experience. It’s more affordable than you think, and you can even do some of the work yourself. Check out the tips and advice on this blog to get the shower that you deserve.
